Ian Sosso talks about investing in start ups and what it takes.

July 18, 2016 – Mr. Ian Sosso will be a Keynote Speaker during lunch on Tuesday, July 26th at the Le Meridien L’Intempo Bar. His talk will be entitled “Investing in Start-Ups: What it Takes” and introduces some of the key elements of the investment process, from deal sourcing to due diligence, valuation and deal structuring.

Mr. Sosso stated, “This is my second participation as a guest speaker at MGF and I am delighted to be back in front of an impressive audience of CEOs and investors. Investing in early stage companies has proven over the years to deliver significant returns to diligent business angels and I am looking forward to sharing some of our experiences with the participants.”

Following a 16 years investment banking career in Europe and Asia which lead him to head up all of Commerzbank’s trading floors in Asia, Ian founded Monte Carlo Capital in 2009 with a view to investing in the most promising early-stage companies with the best teams and disruptive businesses. Over the years he has developed an impressive eco-system of co-investors and advisors which allow Monte Carlo Capital to have access to a significant proprietary deal flow. Ian believes that deal flow, deep due diligence, and active participation are the key drivers of success for business angels. Ian is invested in Europe, Asia and North America in tech as well as life sciences businesses and sits on the boards of numerous companies. Through its office in Hong Kong, Monte Carlo Capital is also helping European and US start-ups grow in Asia, providing capital and assisting with sales, staffing, and manufacturing. Ian is an adjunct professor of Venture Capital at the International University of Monaco where he lectures to MBA and Finance MSc students. Ian is a Monegasque and lives in Monaco.
